Plain-English summary
These calculators are provided free and are for general information. They do arithmetic accurately, but arithmetic is not advice, and no result on this site is a substitute for a professional who knows your particular circumstances.
Financial calculations
Mortgage, loan and investment results are estimates. Real lending involves your credit profile, the lender's underwriting, property taxes and insurance that vary by address, homeowners association dues, private mortgage insurance, and closing costs that differ by state and by transaction. A monthly payment figure from this site is a starting point for a conversation with a lender, not a quote, and it should never be the only basis for a decision about property.
Health and fitness calculations
These pages implement standard published formulas and each names the formula it uses. They are not medical advice and must not be treated as such. Nobody involved in this site is a physician, dietitian, nurse or certified trainer, and no such credential is claimed anywhere. Body mass index in particular is a crude population-level screening tool that ignores muscle mass, body composition, age and build. Decisions about your health belong with a qualified professional who can examine you.

Every effort is made to keep formulas correct and examples checkable, which is why the method is written out on each page. Errors are still possible. If you find one, report it and it will be corrected. No warranty is given that results are error-free or fit for any particular purpose.
